#AStarForCarrie project long-term goals include founding a non-profit where cosplayers get paid a living wage to petition for charitable causes. I want to hire a legion of creative and friendly people in costumes at a living wage to raise awareness about (and funds for) worthy causes.
Every creative person deserves to be paid what they’re worth and have a chance to make a positive impact on the world. Read more about plans for the non-profit here! There are many ways cosplayers can help besides just collecting signatures and donations. A lot of homeless folks could benefit from a team of people out on the street asking “Are you okay?”, offering clean socks, granola bars, and vitamins.
The #AStarForCarrie project is not just for me, it’s not just for the legion of creative people ready to get paid a living wage to make a difference in the world, and it’s not JUST to get recognition for a brilliant writer who was also Princess Leia… it’s also for all the little kids who put down their signatures on the #AStarForCarrie petition. They deserve to know Leia is equal to Luke.
